It all comes down to mentality. determination. and the undeniable aura of the lionesses.

england are bringing home the women’s european championship title for the second time in a row. this is only the second women’s euro to have been decided on penalties since the tournament’s inception.

England conceded a first half goal to Spanish legend Mariona Caldentey, sending the Lionesses into the break trailing 1–0. once again echoing the all-too-familiar storyline of having to claw their way back in this tournament

alessia russo answered in the 57th minute with a header, to ultimately send the lionesses to the penalty kick shootout that ended with an english victory.

Unfortunately for the defending world cup champions spain, they fell short in the moment it mattered most. showing that the mentality and never say die attitude of the lionesses is what being a champion is all about.

for everyone that has been following the trajectory of women’s football in england and across the globe, we know the impact the last england women's euro win had on the sport. but for the lionesses to bring it home again, i can only imagine the importance and emense pride women’s football lovers across the world are feeling at this very moment.

because when it comes home to a team that represents everything good that women’s football stands for, we are all champions.

congrats england! it’s home again.
